Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC 2012 is a system maintenance tool. As the name suggests, it was designed to speed up your PC. To do that, when you first run the application, it will scan your system for potential problems that might be slowing down your machine. The scans are divided into three categories: system tweaks, speed tools, and junk files. For each category, you will see a progress percentage, the number of issues found and the speed loss that those issues cause. Depending on the number of issues found, your speed loss rating can be minor, serious or critical. With the trial version, you can only fix 3 issues. You have to register to take care of them all.
Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC also comes with a few features that can improve performance without fixing any issues. There is a CPU manager, which ensures that no runaway process takes up all your CPU's power; a software launch booster that makes apps start-up faster; a thumbnail generator, which loads thumbnails that you might need before you need them; and a start menu software accelerator, which makes apps accessed from the Start menu launch faster.
As I always say, there is no way I can say for sure whether this app will work for everyone. You have to try the features yourself and see if they work for you and your computer. One great thing about this app is that developers offer a money-back guarantee if your computer isn't faster after optimizing it with SpeedUpMyPC.
In my testing, the app found lots of issues. I fixed them all and I didn't encounter any problems after that. I clarify that I didn't experience any problems because with some system maintenance apps "solving" issues can actually create extra problems.
The paid version of the app removes the issue number limitation, but doesn't really add any other features.
I liked the graphical user interface, and the app didn't seem to slow down my computer at all, even when it was actively scanning for issues.
